Just like my Daddy

Zeb has had a busy month this month. Sara Beth is at the age where she really misses him. When he gets home she tells him, "me miss you today daddy". Zeb is wonderful with spending a lot of time with the girls even though he is worn out and exhausted. Sara Beth has said and done several things about this that we think are cute. She mowed with him for an hour the other day. She came in and had worked up a serious sweat and red face! She has a pair of red gym shorts that I put on her for the first time after she mowed. As soon as she saw them she looked at me and grinned, "Mommy, me mow like Daddy..and, and...me go run like Daddy." We went back outside and she mowed a little more, then we had to go the front yard and she ran up and down the street like Zeb does when he runs.
This is the face Zeb gets everytime he looks at Leigh! She doesn't even make him work for a smile!

First Day of School

Posing for a quick picture on the way to school!

good morning hug from Eady in the parking lot

I was expecting at least one tear-but got none! I mean, she could have missed me at least a little. On the way to school I was telling her that I was going to take her in, drop her off, and pick her up in 3 hours. She told me to make sure that I called her and she would call me. See the "phone" in the post below that she is going to use to call me. I only got pictures of the back of her head, because she never turned around-not even for a kiss good-bye!

Their first activity was coloring--one of her favorites!

When I walked in the door to pick her up, the first thing out of her mouth was, "Mommy did you call me? Me called you!" She had a great day! She didn't even wait for me to ask her how it was. On the way to the car she just starts saying.."me colored, me danced, and read, and went to the bafroom, called mommy"....and the list goes on.

Tea Party at Trinity

Sara Beth met her teacher Mrs. Collins today! She is so excited about her first day tomorrow!

Mrs. Collins read them a book during their tea party. There are 6 girls and 3 boys in her class.
It didn't take her long to feel at home in the classroom. I know she is going to have a great year!

Going to School Party

Sara Beth is going to 2 year old preschool this year at Trinity. To celebrate, we invited 2 of her friends over that are going to be at her school. We found out yesterday that they are in the same class! Here is Sara Beth baking cupcakes for her friends.

Here are the final products of her hard work!

Sara Beth, Eady, and Richard Lewis jumping in the jumpy thing we borrowed from Honey and G!

They made a photo album to record their school year!

Leigh and Tucker hanging out and watching their big sisters. We missed you Jack!

Happy 3rd Birthday, William!

Cousin William turned 3 yesterday! Sara Beth, Leigh, and I went to help him celebrate! He wanted to "be Mexican" yesterday which means that he wanted to go eat chips and cheese dip. He got what he wanted on his day so we all went to eat at Mississippi's best Mexican Restaurant (according to MS Magazine)--it was good, but Cozumel is better in my opinion. Then, following their tradition, we went to Baskin Robbins. Here is Sara Beth eating her "pink and purple" ice cream and William his "green". They don't care about the flavor, just the color.

This is Zeb's grandmother holding Leigh at William's party. We were so glad she was able to come today! There was no warming up to the jumpy things today! She kept up with all the bigger kids. She jumped so much that she slept the entire 3 hours home!
Here she is sliding face first down the slide! Hopefully she won't take this skill to the park!
Santa, please bring me a scooter like Williams. This is fun! Love, Sara Beth

Baby Leigh

laughing in the exersaucer

Baby Leigh has been the best and easiest baby until about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden we had 3 issues that we were dealing with at the same time--she was hungry and wouldn't take a bottle, her teeth hurt and she wouldn't take tylenol, and she won't eat any cereal or food--do you see a pattern?!? All of these things added up to her not sleeping! She had been sleeping thru the night for months and then 2 weeks ago she started waking up 5,6,7, or 8 times a night! And she started crying- a lot--several hours a day! We have slowly been working on the issues--she has started taking a bottle - sometimes. This helped knock out 1 or 2 times up in the night, but that still meant she was getting up a lot! Now for the teeth--I went to Wal-Mart and bought every kind of tylenol dispenser for infants and 2 different flavors! NONE OF IT WORKED! It took Zeb and me to give it to her and we couldn't get any down her--this 15 lb 5 month old is stronger than we are put together! Last night I put the tylenol in the bottle hoping that she wouldn't be able to taste it. IT WORKED!!! She took most of the bottle and got more tylenol than she has ever had--and she slept!!!! Tomorrow I will continue to work on eating--no hope in sight!

All of this being said, she has still be a sweet joy! I had some fun times with her while Sara Beth stayed with her grandmother for a few days! She can sit up for a few minutes now, but I couldn't get a great picture because I didn't want her to fall backwards. And she absolutely loves her exersaucer!

A Weekend in Atlanta

So, we went to Atlanta Wednesday thru Saturday of last week- this is what Leigh did for hours on our trip! I am not exaggerating! My Dad had a blast making raspberries with her all week!

My parents always make a trip to Ted's Montana Grill when they are in Atlanta. This time Sara and Dad got into making wax glasses! They ended up with the wax sticks instead of the kids.

We went to Atlanta to celebrate Katie's 3rd birthday (Aug. 26th). This is how Sara Beth and Katie used the slip n slide for the first part of the party.
Then Dad taught Sara Beth how to do it....
And do it she did--about 50 times! I am sure Dad's shoulder is very sore! You can tell she absolutely loved it!

In 1994 we went to Arkansas and went on a safari. It is one of those stories that gets told over and over in our family. Monkeys climbed on our car, Dad got scratched by a baby cougar, and Sara got bitten by a deer. Well, things have changed some during the last 14 years due to law suits-I guess! You can no longer hold a cougar, but Elizabeth and Clark found a safari about an hour outside of Atlanta and our family knew we must go! Unfortunately Zeb had to work so he didn't get to go. It did not disappoint--we had a blast!

Here Mom, Dad, and the kids are posing for a pre-safari picture! Sara Beth isn't taking her eyes off the ostrich!

Isn't this cool? So much better than the zoo!

Here is Sara Beth feeding a deer! She liked it when they licked her hand! YUCK!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad (a little late)

Happy 30th Anniversary Mom and Dad! Mom and Dad's anniversary was actually the last week in July, but my sisters and I gave them a dinner on August 1st! We had been planning it for many months and were very excited to celebrate their 30 years together. The day of the party I woke up at midnight very sick--1 hour before the party Sara Beth throws up. Zeb, Mom, and Leigh make it through the party feeling good, but all get sick during the night! So we spend the next 4 days not feeling well around my house!
The party was a lot of fun. We had a small family dinner at Nick's and I hear the food was delicious as usual! Amy Bates came and took pictures. She took around 300 pictures-- both formal and informal ones. There were so many to choose from, but I included some below!
I hope that you can can see the invitation in the frame! Dad sported a nice mustache and fro at their garden wedding! (Yes, a garden wedding in July in Mississippi!) The bridesmaids wore peach-hence our color scheme.

my parents with Doe and Dub and my mom's brother Joe and his wife Allison

Sara Beth may be an even bigger Daddy's girl than me!

I don't know how we will ever get a Christmas picture this year! And Zeb's family will have 6 kids 3 and under!

Kent and Jo Ann, Mom and Dad, Nannah, and Carol--we missed you Scooter!

Leigh with her great grandmother!

Who said you can't have fun in your eighties!

Mom and Dad with their 4 greatest joys!
