I have sat down and thought about posting these pictures of my sweet grandfather for almost a month now. However, the last month has been very hard.  He is suffering so much and it has been absolutely heart-breaking to watch.  This weekend he has been in the hospital for the last time.  They were able to get some of the fluid out of his lungs so that he could talk and we could all say goodbye.  He went home Monday night to hospice care and the continual care of our family.  We love him so much!  He has taught us so much and I will do a post about that soon probably.

I must say, and I think my family would agree, we have had some very sweet and tender moments this weekend.  He has been doing a lot of reflecting and remembering.  Friday, I had a short conversation with him because he said that he had asked Jesus for forgiveness, but he didn't see how God could forgive him.  I assured him that what is in the Bible is true and it says that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" and that "no one can come to the Father, but thru Him", but that Jesus had lived perfectly and died on the cross for us.  He nodded and said he believed this and knew this.  My Dad was able to have two very sweet conversations, one on Saturday and one on Sunday of very similar (but more detailed and I am sure worded much better)!  Brister Ware (pastoral care minister at our church) came twice this weekend also.  I know  we have been praying that he would feel the assurance of Christ during these last few days.  Sunday night at 1 a.m. he woke my mom up (doubt she was actually sleeping!) and told her that he felt that assurance and he had mom call dad to tell her! What a sweet moment!

Monday Sara and I spent the afternoon and evening with him so Mom could go prepare his house for him to come home.  As he was reflecting more he started talking about how he has read the Bible his whole life, but how now, he wished he knew it better.  This just really struck me.  I hope that I take this as a life lesson.  It's too late for him now to learn more, but it isn't for me.  May I really get to know my Lord and Savior through his Word!

These pictures were all taken on Oct. 2nd by Dr. Johann Hsu.  It was Doe and Dub's 88th birthdays. Dub is one day older than she is.  They have known each other 84 years and been married 64. WOW!

This was taken on Tuesday at his house via iphone.

POOR BABY SAM

Poor Baby Sam
He has a ruptured eardrum and it hurts-a lot!  He has quite a pathetic pout face too that absolutely breaks our hearts!  Hopefully this will heal soon and he will be back to his happy, good sleeping self!  I sure have enjoyed HAVING to hold him too!

Just a few updates before I forget...
Oct. 12th-Sam had his first belly laugh.  We were sitting at the table after dinner and he laughed at the girls as they were jumping up and down!
Oct. 8th-Sam starting sleeping through the night.  9-7:30

Fair Time

We had our annual fair trip on Friday evening!  It was loads of fun! Thanks My May and Bo Bo for this special treat!

Leigh kept saying, "Momma, horsie laying down."  It was a camel, but I agree, it was worth several comments--I've never seen anything stretch his neck like this--couldn't be comfortable!

This was the stance of the evening--we saw it several times!

For some reason, I let Sara talk me into the giant yellow slide.  I haven't done it in 15 years and for good reason! OUCH!  Sara Beth decided she wanted to do it--I was sure we would walk up the 50 million stairs and she would change her mind, but she never hesitated.  Zeb said she has this look because I was choking her!

in the end it was fun

Looking forward to next year!

D Day

Wear something of Daddy's!
Two weeks ago we went to the park for Marian's 1st birthday party!  It was our first slightly cooler day and the girls had a blast playing outside!

Not sure who thought swinging in a wheelchair swing was a good idea...but, the girl in the back (who we don't know) had her grandmother pushing them back and forth!

Sam, you are about 13 pounds and getting fatter by the day!  I absolutely love that your little legs are getting some chunk to them!  You love to smile, but like your biggest sis, as soon as I get the camera out you stop!  Finally, I got some smiles in pictures!  You smile with your mouth wide open when you are happiest!  You are still not a big fan of tummy time.  You mostly flip straight over on to your back-although you are starting to stay a little longer.  You are on a pretty consistent schedule--when you aren't it is due to the fact that you are #3!  Typically you eat around 8 a.m., 12:15, 3 or 4, 6:30 and 9 and 4 a.m.  I am trying to decide a good time to stretch you a little at night, but you are so quick and easy to feed it just doesn't seem like a big deal during the night!  Your morning naps are hit or miss due to the many times you are taken in and out of the car.  You tend to take about 2 short morning naps and then sleep great from 1 to 3 or 4 in the afternoon.  You are starting to change your evenings and honestly your daddy and I are still trying to figure it out.  You like a short 30 min nap about 5 and then another one about 7.  We both think you want to go down for the night about 7:30 or 8, and we might try this one night soon!  You love to coo and talk and you have the sweetest little voice!  You still love to watch your sisters and they still love to play with you!  I can tell when I forget to give you your reflux medicine even once, it definitely helps you not to hurt too badly!
